Bromelain is an extract derived from the stems of pineapples, although it exists in all parts of the fresh plant and fruit, which has many uses. The extract has a history of folk and modern medicinal use. As a supplement, it is thought to have anti-inflammatory effects.
Bromelain also contains chemicals that might interfere with the growth of tumor cells and slow blood clotting, As a culinary ingredient, it is used primarily as a tenderizer. Additionally, Bromelain is a mixture of proteolytic, or protein-digesting, enzymes found in pineapple. Bromelain breaks protein down into smaller segments making it a great digestion aid. (source) . If you are suffering of severe digestion issues, especially after eating meats (protein) you can potentially benefit from Bromelain in the form of a dietary supplement because it will contain concentrated-higher amounts of this enzyme.
The term “bromelain” may refer to either of two protease enzymes extracted from the plants of the family Bromeliaceae, or it may refer to a combination of those enzymes along with other compounds produced in an extract.[/note]
Vitamins And Mineral Boost Juice
Ingredients
- {If possible try to get all organic vegetables}
- 1 cup of Spinach
- 3 medium Kale leaves
- 2 carrots
- 1 small green pepper seeded
- 1 large slice of pineapple
- 1 lemon juice +
Instructions
- Wash and clean all of your vegetables.
- Juice all ingredients using a regular juicer.
- +I like to add the lemon juice right before drinking this juice.
- I like to use the Juice Fountain by Breville because it collects pulp within the footprint of the unit to conserve counter space. Plus, I sometimes juice fruit first then save it to add it to my plain yogurt or chia pudding etc..
Do you prefer to juice or eat your pineapple raw? What is your favorite way to add this amazing healing fruit?
I’d love to add one small piece of fruit as the sweetening agent, but do not base my juices on fruit. What is the ratio of veggies vs fruit in your juices? I’d love to hear your experiences below in the comments
