Celebrate 4th OF July With Guilt-Free, Low Carb, No Sugar Added Foods
I love long holiday weekends, and I am sure do you too !
After all, it is a great opportunity to relax, enjoy the warm weather and spend quality time with family and friends. There is something special about the fourth of July though. We have many things to be thankful for as Americans– Independence and freedom are two of those privileges some countries don’t have, and for that I am grateful every single day.
4th of July is just so exciting… maybe it is the fireworks, the weather, gatherings, music, BBQ’s or the food? Oh the foooood!!!
On that note, It can get a little overwhelming when trying to decide what to make or bring to a party that isn’t going to send you and your guests straight to the ER after the first bite. Ok okay, I am exaggerating, but you get the point.
That is why I have put together a list of quick and easy fourth of July healthy recipe ideas for you. Now the problem is, I want to make them all! Ok nuff said… without further ado here they are:
Some of the ingredients in this recipe can be substituted according to your dietary restrictions and life style. For example: You can substitute the corn chips for organic non-gmo corn chips, organic corn, and beans from a BPA can. Overall this recipe is a nice healthy treat- live a little 🙂
These blueberry strawberry cones spell convenience, delicious and easy. You can use parchment paper to make the cones and then fill’em up with fruit the day of your gathering and voila!
Give your salsa a make over with this scrumptious blueberry strawberry jicama salad. If you’ve never tried jicama don’t be afraid to use it. It has the consistency and flavor of a not too sweet crunchy apple, is low in calories and best of all– guilt free. Give it a try, this may become your favorite salsa.
Here’s another salad that is super easy to make, that is refreshing and of course will entice your taste buds before or after any entree. No fruit salad sai no one ever!
Put a new spin to your classic frittata by adding beans and basil. The ingredients are easy to find: sweet cherry tomatoes, cubes of mozzarella cheese, black beans, and purple basil but the best part is that this high-protein low calorie meal. Pair it with your favorite grain free bread or side for a delicious brunch or even dinner dish.
What a delicious treat for a change- shrimp Kobobs. This combination will not only make your mouth water, but your taste buds dance with flavors. Always aim for healthier options when it comes to seafood. (Here’s where I get my EWG recommend safe seafood)
To healthify this delicious recipe all you have to do is replace sugar for Swerve Sweetener to reduce the glycemic index and calories.
Note: This recipe calls for rum but that of course, is optional. Enjoy 😉
These delicious low glycemic, low carb, no sugar added grain free cookies will be a great addition to your menu. Flavorful, light and very addicting! I’d suggest you make two batches 😉
When it comes healthy 4th of July recipes, this may just be my favorite. Coconut and berries? Doesn’t get any better. Make it ahead and put in the fridge for a one of kind dessert. Delish!
